What to Expect at Target (September 2020)

We may earn money or products from the companies mentioned in this post.

Here are some of the best things to look forward to at Target in September. We’re sharing new lines, sales, clearance deals and more!

Car Seat Trade-In Event –  The popular Target Car Seat Trade-In Event will be returning September 13th through September 26th 2020.  This year the drop off will be contactless.  Drop off your car seat or base in the specialty marked box outside your Target store, and you’ll receive a 20% off coupon good on your next car seat, stroller or select baby gear purchase.  You can find all the details in this post.

Halloween & Fall – The Fall and Halloween items are starting so show up in stores!   There are so many pretty new home decor items!  Take a peek at some of the new items, like vases, ceramic pumpkins, throws and more.

Threshold with Studio McGee – Speaking of home decor, the brand new fall line from Threshold with Studio McGee will be available to order online on September 13th.  You may be able to find several items from the collection at your Target store already.

Baby Sale – Target generally has a baby sale the first part of  September.   You can expect to find lots of baby furniture, clothing and accessories on sale.   Many of the car seats are on sale for 20% off.  If you combine this sale with the Car Seat Trade-In coupon it should make for some amazing deals!

New Dollar Spot –  The Dollar Spot is stocked with brand new items for Halloween and Fall.  You can get a peek at many of the Halloween items and some of the fall items too. One of the most popular items are the ceramic pitchers for only $3.

Good & Gather – Target’s Good & Gather line was introduced a year ago and they are expanding the line.  The line started out with about 650 items and it will now include nearly 2000 items. Be on the look out for new products like jalapeno avocado hummus, frozen zucchini spirals, bite-sized everything crackers, meatless burgers and so much more.  Each recipe is made without artificial flavors and sweeteners, synthetic colors and high fructose corn syrup.  Starting now and throughout the fall, you’ll begin to see these new items pop up at your local Target stores.

School Supplies Clearance – The school supplies markdown will vary from region (depending on when you started school). Last year our school supplies went down to 70% off during the middle of September. (We usually start school the day after labor day).  I think we may see a fair amount of school supply clearance this year because so many of us are doing virtual learning this year and there was no need for lunchboxes, locker supplies and more.

Home Clearance –  We should see some items like decor, bedding, window coverings and towels marked down to 70% off towards the middle and end of September.  They always clear out the items they brought in for summer to make way for the new fall designs.

Outdoor Garden, Patio & Grilling Clearance – The remaining garden, patio and grilling items should go to 70% off in September.

College Clearance – We should see lots of the items from the Room Essentials line go on clearance this month because most of the items are aimed at those heading off to college.
