I tried that this morning, but my Target never seems to accept both the Target coupon AND manufacturer’s coupon. :\

You should print out the coupon policy, it states that they DO take both a Target coupon and a manufacturer coupon. You can find the policy here: https://www.target.com/HelpContent?help=/sites/html/TargetOnline/help/promotions_sweepstakes_and_discounts/target_coupon_policy/target_coupon_policy.html

That’so strange..my Target has signs ALL over the place, up by the cash registers, stating that they take both MF and Store coupons per item??? I would DEFINITELY take a copy of the coupon policy with you next time you go shopping! :/ I wonder if you could take the coupon policy, your coupon and your receipt and go back to the store and speak with a manager and get the money for the coupon back???
