DIY Dog Treat & Leash Station

We have five kids and one dog, so they are lots of different people that take our dog for a walk everyday. The only problem is nobody puts the leash away in the same place, it’s always a hassle trying to find her leash the next day.  I finally came up with a clever solution!  I made a Dog Treat & Leash Station, so now her leash and her treats are always be in the same spot.

I’m sharing the instructions so you can make your own Dog Treat & Leash Station too.   You can fill your dog’s treat jar with Milk-Bone Puffs light and crunchy dog treats.  Target has a high value 30% off Cartwheel offer on Milk-Bone Puffs with is valid through November 21st. The Milk-Bone Puffs come in Chicken & Cheddar flavors and Bacon & Peanut Butter flavors.

Here are the supplies you will need to make your own dog treat and leash station:

  • Wood board
  • Brackets for hanging
  • Paint or stain
  • Hook
  • Stainless steel hose clamp
  • Canning jar

Paint or stain a board to match your decor.  You can really use any size or shape of board you want. I went with a tall narrow board and a rustic look.  A rectangular board would work well too, you would just place the hook to the side of the jar rather than underneath it.

Once the board is dry, lay all the supplies on the board so you’ll know exactly where they need to go.  Mark the board where you want the items attached.  Once you know the placement of all the items attach a picture hanger on the back of the board for hanging.

Next, attach the hook at the bottom of your board, this will be where you hang your dog’s leash.

You will now attach the stainless steel hose clamp to hold your jar. Drill a hole in the clamp that your screw will fit into. Drill a small pilot hole to make it easier to screw in the screw into the hose clamp.

Once the hose clamp is attached you will tighten it to hold your jar. Make sure it’s tight enough that the jar won’t slip through, but not so tight that the jar will break.

You can add whatever embellishments you want at the top. Painting a paw print would be cute! I chose to go with a nameplate and our dog’s name. The name plate is actually one of the items I picked up during a previous fall Dollar Spot 90% off clearance.

Fill your jar with treats and hang on the wall!  I recommend filling the treat jar with Milk-Bone Puffs light & crunchy dog treats, new flavorful treats fit for any time.

You’ll find just the right size treat for your dog, the Milk-Bone Puffs come in a mini and medium size.  The mini size Milk-Bone Puffs are the perfect size for our Miniature Schnauzer.  The mini size treats are only 4 calories per treat, and the medium size are just 10 calories per treat, so you can feel good about treating Puffs.
