A couple of weeks ago I introduced you to Kwik Stix, the non-toxic Tempera Paint Sticks that take the mess out of painting. We have been having so much fun with these! I am not kidding when I say the whole family gets involved, the Kwik Stix really are a ton of fun to paint with and the fact that there is no mess is a huge plus.
Every Monday night is family night at our house so we broke out the Kwik Stix and we used them on wood and ceramic shapes to make Christmas ornaments. You will find that Kwik Stix work great on number of different surfaces like paper, posterboard, cardboard, wood, and canvas.
You can make some too, here is what you need:
- Kwik Stix Solid Tempera Paint Stix
- Hand Made Modern Wood Gift Tags/Ornaments
- Painter’s Tape (if you want to make stripes)
- Embellishments (optional)
- Ceramic ornaments (I found mine at Hobby Lobby)
The Kwik Stix are great to use because the set up is quick and easy, there is no need to bring out messy paint cups, brushes or water. Painting with the Kwik Stix is simple, you just uncap, twist, and paint!
The quick drying time was a huge help when we wanted to add stripes to our ornaments. The Kwik Stix paint dries in 90 seconds! No waiting hours for paint to dry, it only takes a minute and 1/2.
You can leave them as is or add fun embellishments like buttons.
We made some ornaments with the Classic Kwik Stix colors. I love how bright and vivid the colors are, they are perfect
It was fun to use the Metalix set too. They provide bright colors with a little shimmer to them.
You will find the Kwik Stix located on the craft and coloring aisle at your local Target store. The come in 6-packs of either Classic or Metalix colors and retail for $4.99 (prices may vary). You can also purchase Kwik Stix® Tempera Painting Kit (12 Classic Colors) for $11.99 at Target.com + they ship for FREE (through 1/1/17).
