Cat & Jack Guaranteed for One Year

We may earn money or products from the companies mentioned in this post.

Cat & Jack is Target’s biggest selling clothing brand for kids! This line offers everything from fun graphic tees, hoodies, dresses, leggings, school uniforms, shoes and so much more. The best part about the Cat & Jack brand is it is guaranteed for one year (with receipt). This is great because kids can be so hard on their clothes and ruin them in an instant!

Cat & Jack stands by their one year guarantee because they make high quality products that are made to last! If for some reason, your item tears or wears out within the year, simply bring that item and your receipt back to Target and they will refund your money, or you can exchange it for a new product. The one year guarantee is good on all Cat & Jack products.  In most cases you receipt can be looked up with the card you paid with or in the Target app.

I have been dressing my kids in Cat & Jack clothing for years and I am very pleased with the quality and how long their apparel lasts. I am most impressed with their leggings, they are made with durable knees that don’t wear out!  Over the years my daughter has owned tons of their leggings and they have held up great!

  1. Where can this policy be found on the Target site? I have had troubles in the past with employees not knowing the policies and having to pull it up on my phone to show them.

    1. Hi!! I always have a hard time returning because target employees never know their on policy. I have to pulled out the policy and showed them. It is very frustrating!! Sometimes my daughter received as gift and I don’t have receipts.

    2. Print this out and take it with you. Also it says wear and tear it does not say out gree and exchange but hey I’m going to try my hand.

    1. I would start with contacting the customer service at your local Target store. Hopefully they can guide you in the right direction.

      1. I went to the Super Target near me in Tuscaloosa (AL) & all I needed was proof of purchase (on my Target card or app) or my DL for the ones that were a gift. I was given a merchandise card. It was essentially no different than any other return or exchange. I didn’t have to swap them for the same item or anything. Could basically use the refund on anything.

    2. Look in the book bag and check to see if the item number is in there. If you locate it they can key that number in. And if you paid with a debit or credit card it can be used as a receipt to do your return.

    3. Tina, the easiest and best way to ensure you always have your receipt is to join target circle. That way you can always look through your previous purchases via the app

    4. My gf just returned a TON of cat and Jack clothes and shoes to target. She didn’t have a receipt. The clothes had holes, shrunken, stained and visibly worn. She returned them. If you do not have a receipt, target only give you up to $70 in store credit, per person making the exchange, a year. So, she had her mom and sister return a few things. You can bring anything Cat &Jack back, no questions asked. They might make you look up SKU numbers for each product.

      1. Where I live they only let me go up to 100 I also seen another lady her target let her go up to 400 so if it’s the target we go to that sets a limit. I also had other family member return clothes.

      2. I’ve done this a few months ago and today was told that policy has changed so called corporate and it must be store bc corporate told me still doing it. I’m gonna call the store and talk to manager and see what they say. Atleast let me do it one more time and I’ll understand but not when a friend did it last week I was with her. Doesn’t make sense

  4. My son got a pair of cat and jack rain boots last Easter , but now there in a hole in them. Will target return the boots, or does the warranty not apply to shoes?

  5. Hi son was gifted clothing item but with no gift receipt some he only wore once and they shrunk can I still exchange it?

    1. I would assume if it was an items only worn once they could help you with that, but I am not 100% certain. You’ll probably have to check with Target directly.

  7. If my kids grew out of their clothes can I exchange for a bigger size or is this return policy only for clothing that has been torn?

    1. Seems so, I tried exchanging a whole bunch of my sons school uniform, as we did not need them anymore. They said nope. Not unlsey are ruined. I had half a mind to rip it in front of him…

  8. What if I have replaced an item once and a month later it has holes again? Last time I was told you can only replace an item one time during the one year period. Do you have any idea if this is true, or should I be able to replace it again since it is within the one year of original purchase? I thought I was able to in the past, but wasn’t sure if it changed or if there is somewhere that I could find more on this.

You can return a million times with a receipt

    1. If u have a circle account look online and u should be able to find ur receipt on there if u used a debit card attached to it

  9. I have a bunch of pants my kids Grew out of but I don’t have the receipt they are all in great condition but I was wondering if I could return them and still get my money back on a gift card for target so that I could purchase more clothes for them

      1. I’m sure it’s only for defective clothes otherwise everyone would get free clothes for their children.

You basically aren’t getting “free” clothes bc you made an initial purchase for the clothes you are returning

  10. Just tried to return a pair of Cat and Jack shoes that fell apart and customer service (in person) said they couldn’t help us because they don’t carry those shoes any more. I chatted in and got a gift card.

  11. I bought a pair of Cat and Jack sneakers for my daughter. She wore them only a few times and refuses to wear them now because she says they hurt. Can I return them?

  12. I have a baby boy. And he outgrows his size every few months. What can I do with all this cat and jack baby clothes that is barely worn?

    1. The policy only applies to clothes that have been worn out or damaged, not outgrown.

I would list his outgrown clothing on your local yard sale pages, or donate them to a mama in need.

    2. I would maybe try reselling them at a resale store and handing them down to someone else that can use them.

    1. I work for the Target Company. The policy applies to Cat and Jack clothing ONLY and applies to defective clothing.
(I have had people try to exchange for other brand lines).
There must be proof of purchase showing it was purchased within the previous 12 months, meaning actual receipt. And you may only exchange for the same exact size and type of clothing. If item is a sweater, for instance, and it is being returned in summer time when there are no such items in store, the store will try to accommodate with as similar item as possible, same size. Stained clothing is not part of the guarantee.

    1. Target’s return info q&a says this: Target Owned Brand items: If you’re not satisfied with any Target Owned Brand item, return it within one year with a receipt for an exchange or a refund.

So I don’t think it only applies to defective clothing

      1. It says you have to have Receit. People are abusing the policy. It’s not the employees not knowing. Also says wear and tear not because you out grown them.

  14. I have a Cat and Jack fleece jacket where the Zipper is stuck and does not work. I do not have a receipt for the item. Is there anything I can do?

  15. I love Cat and Jack clothes. Just one complaint. They need more plus size. My 8 yr old is a little bigger. So the 14/16 is snugg on her. It makes me have to look in the teen/adult section. So can you add a plus size line for the bigger kids.

    Please and thank you

    1. You will need your receipt. If you purchased your items with the Target REDcard, they should be able to look up your purchase.

  16. What exactly does worn out clothes mean to Target and the policy?
I would imagine kids wearing clothes after a year would literally mean worn out…to where they would need another pair of whatever is being able to be exchanged for.

  17. I just went to try to return my son’s old cat & jack items and they said they do not accept outgrown clothes, they must be damaged/defective. So I was unable to return them. Hope this helps someone.

  18. Just left target in Orland park Il I was told they only take items that’s not worn, they have to be able to go back on the shelf.

  19. I have 3 year old twin girls and we have sooooo many duplicate outfits they’ve never worn because we don’t really like doing the whole matching thing. Most were gifts from holidays, so no receipts but I kept the tags on. Would this just be the up to $100 store credit? Or would they accept the full return for items with tags?

  20. Yeah this isn’t true I have every receipt and also used my number I have on file for being a circle member. I literally had items with tags in all they couldnt find in their system an was told it’s because the season change the items are not in the system and they couldn’t return the items.I feel like why have this policy if that’s not it is true. This is my second try and same issues. I was big on buy cat and Jack cause they have great quality stuff for my kid but for such a limited time to wear these clothes I can get cheaper stuff and give it away or throw it out. I’ll still buy there stuff but not like that considering last year I brought nuthin but cat and Jack stuff.

  21. Hi

I recently return a bunch of Cat& Jack clothes & shoes items for the first time yesterday. I could not return some because it was over a year. but I still have receipts for those and wanted to return it. still in good condition. How can I return it for a store credit? is there any exception? And I also have clothes without the receipts? My daughter is almost 3 and those clothes, I don’t have receipts for, are between 6-12 months old. Please advise. thank you

    1. Unfortunately if it has been over a year they won’t accept any returns. The Cat & Jack return policy is only for a year.

  22. I just went to target to return some cat and jack shoes that my had started to rip on the bottom. I had the receipt in my target app but they told me I needed to have the original paper receipt. I’ve never had a problem in the past, only at this particular target. After 5 minutes he said he would do the return this once but I need a paper receipt next time.

  23. Cat & Jack for the win! As a parent who swears by this brand, the one-year guarantee is a game-changer. Knowing my kids can explore, play, and still have durable, stylish clothes that last is such a relief. Kudos to Cat & Jack for making parenting a little easier and a lot more stylish!
