5 Family Activities we Love

They say the older you get the faster time flies. I believe it!  It seems like just yesterday I was sending my first son off to kindergarten and now he’s in college.   Before I know it all five of my kids will be old enough to be out on their own.  This summer we’ve been focusing on some of our favorite family activities so we can create family moments that help us to freeze time so we can have memories that will last us a lifetime.

Here are five of our favorite family activities that help us to freeze childhood and enjoy our kids a little longer:

Take a hike ~ There is something about being in the great outdoors with your family.  These hikes allow us to get exercise and carry on some great conversations.

Go geocaching ~ With geocaching we can once again head outdoors, but we are given the opportunity to work together as a family to find the geocache.  It’s always a fun time!

Play a board game ~ Weekly game nights are a thing at our house.  When we play games we are entertained but it also helps us to engage in some great family communication.

Play a yard game ~ We love to head out to our backyard to play a fun yard game.   This is another great way to enjoy the outdoors, be active and have some fun family competition.   Some of our favorites outdoor games are Bocce Ball, Croquet, Badminton, Spikeball and just tossing a Frisbee around.

Have a treat night ~ Once a week we have a treat night at our house and we hang around the kitchen table and chat about our day.   Monday nights are our “treat night” because we know that is the evening when everybody will be home.  We take turns choosing the treats each week, and we often go for frozen treats.   We choose a nice variety so everyone in the family is happy and if we have extras we can have them throughout the week too.

I am personally all about the Magnum bars!   I love the rich Belgian chocolate in combination with caramel, peanut butter or raspberry.  These are heavenly!

The kids enjoy the Klondike Bars, they like the classic chocolate and vanilla combination.   Not to mention all the fun varieties the Klondike bars come in too.   Have you tried the Caramel Pretzel?  Yum!
